Introducing The Expressionists, Kristin Adamczyk

PEOPLE WE LOVE

Meet the Expressionists! We have set out across the country to find out what’s inspiring America’s young dreamers, doers, movers and shakers. Check our interview with Kristin Adamczyk below!

How do you like to express yourself?

My form of expression is illustration. I also like to go dancing.

How is denim a part of your everyday uniform?

I love dark denim, I can balance daily wear with my evening look. It’s also incredibly difficult for me to throw denim away; I wear my comfy worn-in jeans while I paint in the studio and on the street.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve done when wearing jeans?

Perform graffiti artist stunts on a reality TV show. Also Skydiving in New Zealand.

When did you know that you wanted to focus on your art?

I was four years old.

What is the most rewarding part of doing what you do?

As a visual narrator, I tell stories, spread ideas, and start conversations daily.

What is a career highlight so far?

Auction of my artwork resulting in a large donation to the Detroit Historical Society; Artwork influencing and shaping our community’s future and the preservation of our city’s history.

Why do you love living in Detroit?

Detroit is an incubator for the young creative – you own yourself here, the city balances it’s diverse culture with a uniquely independent and open-minded chapter of rebirth. The hardworking prevail in an open market.

What do you have coming up in the future?

I’ve been writing and illustrating a screenplay.
