Express Live With The Regrettes

The Regrettes aren’t your typical high school band. Between their recent Conan performance and their upcoming string of summer dates, which includes a stop at Summerfest, “The World’s Largest Music Festival,” The Regrettes are anything but average.

The band’s debut album, Feel Your Feelings Fool! features a striking display of punk rock with splashes of a Phil Spector-ish Wall of Sound aesthetic. The album’s single, “A Living Human Girl,” which frontwoman Lydia Night wrote during her freshman year of high school, blew us away with its drums-and-vocal intro (a nod to The Ronettes’ classic, “Be My Baby” perhaps?) that suddenly cuts away to Night’s full, powerful voice – an anthem for all women who are tired of being told what they should look like and how they should act.

“Our main goal,” Night told the Los Angeles Times in 2016,” is just to write honest music about ourselves and the people around us and the things that we experience. I think that people need a friend sometimes — a friend who isn’t always there. A lot of people don’t have anyone to relate to.”

The band’s message is definitely resonating with fans. A typical crowd might include teenagers, 60-year-olds and everybody in between. As bass player Sage Nicole recently shared with Ventura County Star, “[…] we get people that are big music fans and have loved a ton of different bands over the years, and they tell us that we remind them of their childhood or some band that they loved when they were our age. Then we get teenagers who tell us, ‘Wow, you make me feel like I know who I am,’ […] We get a mixture of everything, and it’s really perfect.”

This summer, you can catch The Regrettes all across the United States in Phoenix, Austin, Nashville, Atlanta, Brooklyn, and elsewhere. If you’re headed to Summerfest in Milwaukee or Riotfest in Chicago, be sure to add The Regrettes to your schedule! Their debut album, Feel Your Feelings Fool! is available to stream and purchase anywhere music is sold.
