How and What To Pack For Your MDW

We all do it. Waiting for the very last minute to pack for a vacation or weekend away.

With time and schedules getting more and more strained, it’s often difficult to set time aside to think through where you’re going, what will be happening and what’s best to pack for those occasions. Just thinking about it can cause a little anxiety. But, fear not. With a few simple tricks, you might actually find packing enjoyable. After all, it’s the moment you begin to envision yourself on vacation. Let the wanderlust begin.

To help you get to your final destination with a few less wrinkles, here are a few of our packing pro tips.

Weekend Packing Pro Tips:

  • The pre-pack: Start by laying out what you want to wear for each day. This will help you see where you might be missing something, but also help you see what you might not need.
  • The bag: Pull out a nicely structured duffel. Having a duffle really helps you limit what you pack to what’s most essential. Nothing worse than schlepping around a bunch of stuff you don’t need
  • The anchors: Start by adding in your shoes. If you’re only taking two pairs, put each shoe in a shoe bag (this helps keep dirt and grime off your clothes) and place them at the ends of the bag. They will help balance the bag when you are in transit. If you are in need of additional pairs of shoes for your trip, continue lining the bottom of the bag, with the shoes placed tip-to-toe. This will create an even floor at the bottom of your duffle.
  • Roll it: Not a roller? It’s time to switch teams. Rolling helps reduce wrinkles, ensuring your things arrive ready for primetime. Place rolled tees and chinos, underwear (your toiletries can go in at this point too) and socks around your shoes, filling in the spaces.
  • Top it off: Lastly, layer in your lightweight jacket and sweaters, with your shirts placed over everything. Shirts should go in last, and folded, not rolled, to prevent them from creasing.
